DrumPower Project with unaccompanied young refugees In total 18 units of DrumPower could be offered to young refugees thanks to Lions-Club Karl Valentin Munich and the Kulturreferat Munich between November 2016 and June 2017. The project took place in cooperation with the school »Hilfe von Mensch zu Mensch e.V.« which is an association where young refugees can graduate from school. The Kinder- und Jugendmuseum provided their hall for the project. With a group of four to eight adolescents we developed after a phase of exploration and knowing eachother the topics of violence, inclusion and exclusion, power and helplessness. Therefore we used roleplays, dynamics of the DrumPower-method, free improvisation and verbal rounds of reflection. The strong cohesion and confidence in the group helped the young people to mention actual conflicts and preoccupations by what thus could be treated and shown possible perspectives and handling. The unaccompanied young refugees as well as the school desired a continuation of the project. |
